CROSLAND MOOR OPEN ‘64’ 2025
The Final – Friday 29th August
Player Preview as provided by Mark Atkinson
Danny HALLAS (Preston) 10/1
21-14 Daley CLARK (Leeds)
21-11 Michael HEAP (Lancashire)
21-14 Stuart HODSON (Lancashire)
An impressive night’s work for Danny in qualifying saw him book his final spot with relative ease. A tough opener here in Ryan, but a repeat of his qualifying form could see Danny go close.
Ryan CLARK (Lower Hopton) 2/1
Jack DYSON 21-8 (Thongsbridge)
Craig HOPWOOD 21-15 (Crossgates)
Barry HOLLAND 21-16 (Dodworth)
Ryan showed his credentials in qualifying, coming through a stacked Q3 without too much fuss as he picked up three impressive wins. A proven winner and with top homester and roomy Brookfat in his corner, surely a good price to add his name to the illustrious list of winners at Crosland Moor?!
Dave WORTHINGTON (NLF) 12/1
21-12 Martin GREENALL (Kirkheaton)
21-18 Chris MORDUE (Pudsey)
21-14 Kevin BURNS (Ossett)
First time visitor Worthy took to the green like a duck to water as he came through against tough opposition with proven pedigree on the green. A mile behind in the qualifying game, Dave used his left hand up the edges to great effect to run out and book his place in Friday’s final.
Jack WAREING (DODWORTH) 8/1
21-17 Gaz METCALFE (Low Moor)
21-19 Dave FISHER (Denby Grange)
21-15 Danny KILBURN (Kirkheaton)
I’ve seen Jack play a handful of games this year and have been impressed every time, playing some really consistent bowls and showing his ability. He’ll have the upper hand on green knowledge with Dave and will fancy following the trend of Dodworth lads who have done well in the competition in recent years.
Robert HITCHEN (Lower Hopton) 14/1
21-16 John HANSON (Preston)
21-17 Robbie ELLIS (Littlemoor)
21-12 Mark REGAN (Kirkheaton)
The outsider on the night according to the bookmaker given his draw, but that won’t phase Bob given his experience and undoubted class over the years. He’ll fancy it with the Moor running, and I know personally he’s playing well and full of confidence after smashing me all over Lopton on Tuesday!
Simon COUPE (Preston) 11/8
21-11 Liam Sykes (Alvaston & Boulton)
21-12 Nicky White (Thongsbridge)
21-20 Ash Tattersley (Lower Hopton)
The two-time former champ here at Crosland Moor and riding high following a last gasp wonder wall to squeeze through qualifying last week by the tighest of margins. A short priced favourite to go on and lift the crown for an unprecedented third time – who would back against him?
Craig GANT (Thongsbridge) 6/1
21-20 Harrison MESSENGER (Kirkheaton)
21-8 Zinedine AYUB (Lower Hopton)
21-19 Neil SLATTERY (Kirkheaton)
Former winner here in 2014, Ganty used all of his experience in marathon games in qualifying as he overcame two real scares in Harrison Messenger and Neil Slattery. How often do people then go on to win the comp?! A tough opener against team-mate Ashley, but Craig will feel he’s got every chance.
Ashley DAYKIN (Thongsbridge) 8/1
21-17 Ivan SMOUT (Birmingham)
21-9 Lee JOHNSTONE (Wigan)
21-13 Jack HILL (Dodworth)
Ashley plays the green like a homester with countless hours on the green, and the tickling pace will be to his liking so 8/1 could prove massive for the C&D winner (back in 2012). Ashley impressed in qualifying coming through some tough heats with relative ease so will fancy his chances here.
