Not a lot to excite the neutrals amongst this week's fixtures with no top 2 or bottom 2 tussles to highlight in any of the five sections so we will progress through them in numerical order. Starting in Section 1 where the top two suddenly find themselves ganged up on by the rapidly approaching mini-group of 3 teams led by a marauding Cowcliffe side that has already beaten both the top two this season. In addition they have won all four of their home matches so should not be fazed by a visit from Lindley Lib 'A' who have won their last 3 matches but still languish in the bottom half of the table.
Lockwood Con 'A' will need to find some form quickly following successive defeats which failed to knock them off top spot but maybe a trip to old adversaries Clayton West will ignite the memories of former seasons' glories to recover the winning habit. Elland slipped up at lowly Netherton Con last week so failed to take advantage of Lockwood's problems and will be pleased to have the comfort of home when hosting their neighbours from Rastrick. Bottom of the table Thongsbridge 'A' welcome a Waterloo team that have lost all four of their previous away fixtures so will hope to pick up some points to start to plug that 17-point gap to safety.
The top two teams in Section 2 both have home matches against top-half opposition this week and both will expect to win. With only 2 points separating the top three every point is vital as Thorpe Green play Milnsbridge 'A' and Lindley BC 'A' meet Bradley & Colne whilst 3rd-placed Kirkheaton Con 'A' travel to play second from bottom Hemplow 'A'. After losing their first four matches of the season the Hemplow side has since picked up a couple of wins to move them level on 22 points with Paddock I&C and Lockwood Con 'B' so again every point is vital at both ends of the table.
Golcar Lib 'B' started the season topping the Section 3 table after four straight wins but losing the last two games has put a dampener on that as they slip to third. A good opportunity to redeem themselves with a trip to play leaders Holmfirth 'A' and reduce a gap that has been stretched to 11 points. Lowerhouses in second place are 9 points behind the leaders but have 3 teams within 4 points of them so they are more likely to be looking over their shoulders rather than upwards. They have the chance to improve their position this week with a home game against Almondbury Lib with 4th placed Slaithwaite also at home to Outlane with both these away teams still looking for their first wins on their travels. Outlane are in that group of six teams at the bottom separated by 5 points with two of them meeting this week when Lindley Lib 'B' host bottom team Marsh United 'B'.
Of the top 5 teams in Section 4 none are at home this week, although Huddersfield Recreation Club are on a bye, and none of them play each other so a chance for the chasing pack to close in on the leading order. To do that they will need the scalp of one of those four top-half teams but it is difficult to forecast where that might come. Leaders Denby Dale have won all their six matches to date and shouldn't be unduly troubled at Primrose Hill Lib who have lost their last 2 matches. Then second-placed Lindley BC 'B' play at Milnsbridge against the 'B' side that has lost both its home matches to date.
The top two in Section 5 both have home fixtures this Tuesday with leaders Marsh Lib welcoming lowly Broad Oak 'B' and second-placed Rugby Club entertaining fourth in the table Hemplow 'B'.
