A preview of the Divisions 1 & 2 fixtures to be played on Wednesday 13 December
There is an intriguing tie in Division 1 this Wednesday as the teams in 3rd and 4th positions meet. Clayton West have only lost to the top two teams this season whilst Lower Hopton are unbeaten in their last four fixtures after a slow start to the season.
Last season only two teams stayed unbeaten by the title winners from Lower Hopton, Clayton West being one of those two after a 6-2 win and a 4-4 draw in their two meetings. After losing their opening two matches Lower Hopton have refound their better form so it is all adding up to a close encounter.
Either, or maybe both, Clayton West and New Mill A could overtake the leaders Thorpe Green who are without a match this week. New Mill A take on a Lowerhouses A side that hasn't won any of their last four fixtures and New Mill need to make that five if they are to remain in contention for the honours this season.
For the second consecutive Monday Kirkheaton Con A are in a bottom two encounter as they confront Golcar Lib this time. With just two points separating the two teams from the same number of matches played this is a key match with a first win of the season increasingly important to the Kirkheaton team. The remaining match seeing Lindley BC A meeting Meltham who won for the first time last Wednesday. Last time out the Lindley BC A side beat Thorpe Green, the leaders, so will be in good heart as they continue to consolidate their top flight status.
The Division 2 leaders, Cowcliffe A, continue to set the pace and will relish a return to action with a meeting with the out-of-form Springwood B side who have lost their last three matches. Denby Dale continue to spring surprise results out of the programme and are on a run of three big wins as they go up against Lindley Lib A who have won their last two matches.
Second versus fourth as Milnsbridge A meet Lindley BC B who finally seem to be coming to terms with the team reorganisation after relegation from the top division last season. The Milnsbridge side have won their last two matches and would dearly love to make it three to remain in the second promotion place. Brockholes B had a great 8-0 win last week and would love to repeat that when taking on bottom-of-the-table outfit Huddersfield Recreation Club A who have lost their last three fixtures.
