Busy Wednesday for Division 1 teams

Winter League

Preview of the Divisions 1 & 2 fixtures scheduled for Wwednesday 24 January

A full fixture programme this week (hopefully) for the Division 1 teams as four teams complete last week's programme with a 10.00am start. Lower Hopton and New Mill A will play their match postponed last Wednesday with the early start the incentive of making 2nd place their own for the winner. Kirkheaton Con A and Lindley BC A will complete their match as the pairs leg has still to be played. The teams being level at 1-1 after the two singles matches were completed on a frosty green last Wednesday.

New Mill A and Kirkheaton Con A will then go on to play each other and join the other teams in playing their scheduled weekly matches.

Another hangover from last Wednesdays fixtures was the Meltham v Lowerhouses match which was played on Monday and saw Meltham whitewash their opponents to leave Lowerhouses in serious trouble.

Lowerhouses A and Golcar Lib occupy the bottom two places in the latest table and they meet each other this week in the knowledge that whatever the outcome of their match they will still both be in the relegation places although those places could be reversed.

There are no such complications in Division 2 with a full four-match programme including a top-two confrontation as Cowcliffe A look to recover from last week's first defeat of the season when they take on their nearest rivals, Milnsbridge A, who are 18-points behind them. The Milnsbridge team really need to collect some points from this encounter with three teams behind them all within touching distance. The nearest of those being Denby Dale who play bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Recreation Club A this week. The Dale also have a match in hand over all the other teams in the top half of the table so will be keen not to slip up this week.

Lindley Lib A have hit top form by beating the top two teams in the division in ther last two matches and will welcome an easier looking fixture this Wednesday when they take on relegation-threatened Brockholes A. The Badgers have won 3 of their last 5 matches so come into the match in good heart but need to pick up points to preserve their 5-points cushion above a drop-zone position. Lockwood Con A and Springwood A are also both in that relegation mix so will be desparate for points as well when they meet up this week.
