We have a double header this week in the Pairs KO qualifying programme as two divisions are vying to get their qualifying pairs sorted at the same time. With a relatively smaller number of entrants from Divisions 2 and 8 and with the original playing date for the Division 2 teams called off because of a frozen green a change of approach is called for.

There are now 9 entrants from Division 8 teams and a further 5 from the Division 2 membership. Although being run at the same time on the same green the two qualifying competitions are otherwise separate competitions. When the decision was taken to run both qualifiers at the same time there were only 5 entries from both divisions. That has increased since then and indeed, entries are still invited until Wednesday for bowlers playing in both divisions.

That being the case the Division 8 qualifiers will play their opening round first with an 11.00am start time. They will be followed by the Division 2 bowlers starting an hour later at 12noon. All matches are being played at Thorpe Green. Get there early to grab your bowl of Pea and Ham soup and stay warm all day.

All bowlers are asked to be present no later than 15 minutes before these start times to enable the draws to be made. That means Division 8 bowlers should be present for 10.45am and the Division 2 bowlers need to be present and registered by 11.45am.

Interestingly all eight teams playing in Division 8 are represented in the qualifying round with two pairs from Golcar C&BC to make up the nine. The full list of entrants (this is not the draw) in both divisions to date is:

There is still time to enter any of the remaining Division Qualifying Rounds as listed above. Bowlers only need to have played one League match before the date of the qualifying round to qualify to enter. Your online entry form is at the foot of this posting.
