Preview of the Tuesday fixtures scheduled for Divisions 8&9 teams

One point separates the top three teams in the Division 8 table and two of those three go up against each other this Tuesday. The leaders, Broad Oak B, take on Hemplow A and with the top three some 17 points ahead of the chasing pack little is expected to change any time soon. Lockwood Con C are sat between these two teams and this week they have to take on the Golcar C&BC side that remain at the bottom of the table and even ignoring their 20-point penalty would still be 9 points off the top spot.
Assuming that Golcar C&BC are bound to climb up the table as the season progresses and the penalty is overcome then that is likely to lead three teams struggling to avoid being left in the relegation places. Two of those teams play each other this week as Cowcliffe C and Meltham B meet with two points between them. The Meltham team are still looking for their first win of the season and now would be a good time for them to collect that.
There are two teams locked together on the same 18-points total in mid-table. Mirfield B and Linthwaite Hall A would need to double their points totals to feature in the promotion chase but are much closer to the bottom than the top.

Greenhead Park continue to set the pace at the top of the Division 9 table and expect to maintain that when they take on 4th-placed Kirkheaton C&BC B. Kirkheaton C&BC C will be hoping their clubmates dent the leaders record as they are only 2 points behind them with a match against lowly Almondbury BC C this week.
Bottom of the table is the Brockholes C team that has lost all six matches so far this season but a match against Mirfield C offers an opportunity to correct the absence of a win anywhere to date. Marsh Lib B could gate-crash the promotion party if they score a big win over 5th placed Kirkheaton Con C but their opponents may have other ideas about that.
