BCGBA Special General Meeting called
Bowling News
The BCGBA have called a Special General Meeting to be held on Saturday 14 November as the latest attempt to resolve the dispute between themselves and the group of three County Associations who are trying to take over the running of our sport. This meeting is only mentioned on two sources. One being from the Federation of Crown Green Bowls and the other from a Newsletter from Warwick & Worcester CGBA Both are reproduced below.
There is a lot of ill-will generated from both sides as previously reported on this website which will undoubtedly make it difficult to find a conclusive resolution. The Chairman of the Warwick & Worcster CGBA makes reference to it in a Newsletter and presents an overly optimistic expectation of a resolution on this matter. It is reproduced in full here.
We will also have a resolution to the BCGBA saga following the Special General Meeting which will be held on Saturday 14 November. We can then work together to help move this great sport forward.” Jim Drain, Chairman Worcester & Warwick CGBA
The Federation of Crown Green Bowls issued the following notice on their Facebook page this week.
Federation of Crown Green Bowls Position Statement
14 October 2026
The Federation has made its position clear regarding the ongoing dispute within BCGBA.
We remain fully paid-up members of the official BCGBA and support the decision to hold the Special General Meeting on 14 November in the hope that the current differences can be resolved.
Our Constitution, Bye Laws and safeguarding arrangements have been updated to ensure that the Federation is in a position to continue operating independently should this become necessary.
Our 2026 season has been successfully completed, and preparations for 2027 are well advanced, with fixtures, competitions and venues arranged. The Federation remains financially and administratively independent, and our commitment to our Affiliates remains unchanged. We have made our position clear.
The responsibility for resolving the current dispute now rests with the parties involved.
Our priority remains the continued success and development of the Federation and the interests of our Affiliates.
David Kay
Federation Coordinator
I am unable to find mention of the SGM anywhere else including the BCGBA website and Facebook pages. I have asked Yorkshire CGBA for comment.

I FIND IT AMAZING THAT AN AGM IS CALLED AND ALL APPROPRIATE ORGANISATIONS ARE NOT APPROPRIATELY INFORMED. IT IS SO BASIC.
