Review of the results from the Divisions 8 & 9 played on Tuesday 28 October

In a day of surprises the top of Division 8 table continues the unbelievable trend as Broad Oak B sit proudly at the top of the pile. A complete turnaround from last season when they finished in 6th place. With an 8-0 win under their belts this week over last season's fellow strugglers Lockwood Con C and a third straight winning start to the new campaign. That really damaged the Lockwood Con's team promising start to the season as well.

The surprises continued with last year's runaway Champions, Golcar C&BC going down 0-8 to the new boys from Hemplow. That pushed them up into 2nd place and condemned the Golcar ladies to spend another week in bottom place as they continue their recovery from a -20 point penalty for declining promotion last season. This certainly made an announcement about the potential of the Hemplow side who take second place in the table.

Mirfield B collected a first win of the season when beating Cowcliffe C 6-2 and moving into the mid-table positions overtaking their opponents and also Meltham B who shared the points 4-4 with Linthwaite Hall B when the sides met. The table already has a large 6 point gap between the top three teams and the other five teams threatening a split that could run all season.

Kirkheaton C&BC C continued their good introduction to Division 9 of the Winter League with a third straight win when beating Marsh Lib B 6-2 to stay clear at the top. Greenhead Park are after them following an 8-0 win over Brockholes C who drop into the bottom spot. That was vacated by Kirkheaton C&BC B team who collected their first win of the season when beating Mirfield C 6-2. A second consecutive 8-0 win for Kirkheaton Con C enabled them to join in the promotion race by taking third place.
