A preview of the remaining fixtures in the Veterans 6-Man League

It may be the final day of the 6-Man League season with seven matches still to be completed although most promotion and relegation matters have been already decided except in Division 2 where matters at both ends are still to be resolved. The 2nd promotion place behind Champions Marsh United 'A' and the 2nd relegation place have still to be determined with Skel Windmill teams in contention in the dog-fight at both ends of the table.

The good news first. The Skel Windmill 'A' team need a single point from their trip to play Slaithwaite to confirm their elevation to the top level for next season. As Slaithwaite have only fielded four bowlers in six of their last 7 league matches, and only 2 bowlers for their match last Monday it looks like that point is already secured and promotion is in the bag. So whatever score Holmfirth 'A' come up with will be of little comfort to them. Instead they will have to take it out on the Skel Windmill 'B' team.

The bad news is that the Skel Windmill 'B' team need 5 points from this match to guarantee their survival in Division 2 for another season. The second relegation place will go to either Skel Windmill 'B' or New Mill after the Meltham v New Mill fixture scheduled for yesterday (Friday) was postponed due to a waterlogged green and will now be played on Monday 3 October.

All the other matters in all three divisions have now been sorted with Shepley 'A' the Division 1 Champions and Honley Con taking the runners-up position. Lindley Lib 'A' are relegated from Division 1 along with the long-suffering Linthwaite Hall.

Marsh United 'A' are the Division 2 Champions and win their 2nd promotion in the last three seasons.

Golcar Lib make an immediate return to Division 2 after winning the Division 3 title race and they are accompanied by Almondbury Lib who have had two seasons at this level after relegation in 2019.
