Veterans League
A final day best result of the season for the Huddersfield Veterans Inter-District team as they beat Bradford 40-16 to take 3rd place in the final table. It wasn't the team's biggest win of the season, that was 41-15 over a Castleford team that finished in last place, but it was the best and most important and it hinted at what might have been and maybe even at what is to come.
A generally disappointing season not to figure in the race for the title and losing to Skipton and Wakefield teams that finished in the bottom three. In addition, losing more matches than were won, along with the defeats to the top two teams showed how far away the team is from returning to former glories.
In the build-up to the match I set the points target of a 39-17 win to ensure that the team would overtake their final day opponents, Bradford, and they managed that with a commendable 40-16 triumph with both the home and away teams contributing heavily to that scoreline. All the information about the last day of the season is included below, with the final combined table along with both the home and away team tables. Table positions are determined by Total Points and then by Games Won. The two match day scorelines are also included.
