Kirkheaton Con retain Sub-Team KO title

Kirkheaton Con B held on to the title of the Winners of the Sub-Team KO when comprehensively beating fellow Division 4 rivals Marsh United B by 154-126. Winning 6 of the 7 games to run out clear victors. That was a little harsh for the Marsh team as they had to overcome a 5-point handicap advantage awarded to the Kirkheaton team. With the teams both in the same division and the Kirkheaton team heading the table for them to be given a 5-point handicap start seems unfair somehow. However the handicaps are based on the finishing positions at the end of the previous season and maybe it was time that was reviewed. It should also be said that the Kirkheaton team didn't need the handicap difference on this occasion to win the match.

The win means that the Kirkheaton team won a second successive title and the ominous fact is that they are eligible to play in the 2027 version of this competition with a unique opportunity to become the first team ever to win a hat-trick of titles. That should have put the mockers on that aspiration then.
