Bowling News
The demand for these workshops was unprecedented and spaces were filled within an hour of the opportunity going live.
We are aware of clubs and volunteers who still wish to attend a Club Matters Workshop and were unable to book in time. We are working hard to arrange more opportunities.
There will also be a variety of other courses, virtual seminars and resources being released to clubs signed up to the Bowls’ Big Weekend in the coming weeks.
Sports England and the BCGBA continue to push the national initiative to introduce the game to many more new bowlers. Below are more details on how your club can be part of this promotion to get more bowlers to join your club.
We have partnered with Club Matters to deliver a number of FREE online bowls-specific workshops for all affiliated clubs that will be running events as part of Bowls’ Big Weekend from Friday 28th May through to Monday 31st May.
Club Matters workshops are 2-hour training sessions, funded by Sport England and delivered across the country by experienced Club Matters tutors in a range of specific topics. The sessions will develop your skills, improve your knowledge and ultimately help you develop your club.
The workshops we are offering will be tailored to focus on the upcoming bowls open days and will cover the topics of: Developing a Marketing Strategy and Engaging your Community.

It would also be interesting to learn how many of those were from Yorkshire clubs. Not many I would guess as the slow distribution of this message from YCCGBA meant that all the places had been taken before it even got advertised in Yorkshire.
It would be interesting to have a breakdown of how many crown green clubs have taken up the offer.
“Selling like hot cakes“ come to mind. At 9.30 am all the courses were fully booked.
