Preview of the Veterans 6-Man League fixtures for Bank Holiday Monday

After a week off to complete the Round 2 matches in the Julie Fuller Trophy, teams return to League duties with a full programme of fixtures. There is no standout fixture in Division 1 this Monday so lets see if the top two can extend their unbeaten records and see if the bottom two can claim their first wins of the new campaign. Both Shepley A and Thongsbridge A tasted success in the Julie Fuller last week so let's see if that ignites their seasons.

The Division 2 leaders are New Mill A and they have to travel to lowly Denby Dale for a 10.30am morning start time this Monday. There is a clash of two opposite league records when Lockwood Con defend their unbeaten record at home to foot of the table Longwood who are still looking for a first win.

Neither of the top two teams actually played in Division 3 last season with Hemplow A coming up as the Division 4 Champions and Thongsbridge B woefully adrift at the bottom of the Division 2 table. Both have had good starts to their seasons with Hemplow A having a home game with relegation placed Golcar Lib B that they will expect to win to extend their 100% win record.

Broad Oak B are a new team to the League and early signs are that they may have been put into a Division above their level of capability. They will find out more this week as a home match against a Clayton West B settled in the bottom half of the table is one that the new boys must expect to win.

Thongsbridge C are setting the pace at the top of the Divison 4 table although they have played one more match than most of their rivals. However 3 wins from 3 matches is a great start for a team that only won 3 matches all last season. Hemplow B have made a bright start after their relegation from Division 3 last season and will expect to take home the majority of the points from their visit to play at a Meltham team still seeking their first win of the season.
