Another 100% unbeaten record bites the dust this week when Marsh United 'A' lost at home to Rastrick 3-6 and the teams are now level in mid-table on 15 points. Only two unbeaten records left in Section 1 and it will be no surprise to anyone that they belong to Elland C&BC 'A' and Lockwood Con 'A'. Elland continue to lead the way and a 7-2 home win over Golcar Lib 'A' is the latest success in their quest to dislodge Champions Lockwood Con from another title campaign. The Cons are a match behind Elland and 10 points adrift as well despite beating Crosland Moor on their own patch 6-3 this week. Cowcliffe had a big 8-1 home win over Thongsbridge 'A' to go second although still 5 points behind the leaders but that may change when the two top teams clash in this Friday's extra round of fixtures. Home wins for Meltham 'A', Longwood and Clayton West places them in 3rd, 4th and 5th places respectively
With 9-0 Section 2 home wins for Broad Oak 'A' and Thorpe Green this week they now occupy the top two positions in the table with Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' and Paddock I&C being on the receiving end of those hammerings and both now reside in the botton four. Bradley & Colne and Lindley BC 'A' also both won their home games to remain in contention where just 4 points separate the top 5 teams. Included in that five-some is Kirkheaton Con 'A' who extended their unbeaten record with a 7-2 away win at Lockwood Con 'B'. The 'A' teams for Brockholes and Hemplow fill the two relegation places at present as both continue to look for their first wins of the year.
There is a full round of fixtures in Sections 1 & 2 this Friday as the League continues to catch-up with the delayed start to the season. The 1st v 2nd Section 1 encounter at Cowcliffe being the most attractive of these from the full listing alongside.
The top three teams in Section 3 all won this week but we do have a change of leaders as Holmfirth 'A' passed Golcar Lib 'B' and Skel Windmill to go a point clear of both courtesy of their 8-1 home win over Springwood. Golcar Lib 'B' inflicted a third successive defeat on Almondbury Lib whilst Skel had a good away win at Brockholes 'B' who were losing for the
first time. Slaithwaite extended their unbeaten start to the season with a 6-3 home win over bottom-of-the-table Marsh United 'B' and Outlane moved out of the drop zone with a first win of 2021 when beating previously undefeated Meltham 'B' 6-3. Lowerhouses had a 6-3 away win at Lindley Lib 'B' to move into the top half of the table.
Lindley BC 'B' continue to thrive following their promotion into Section 4 and now have a 3-point lead at the top of the table after winning 7-2 away at previously undefeated Netherton Con 'B' who drop two places as a result. Wins for Denby Dale (8-1 away at Ravensknowle Park) and Huddersfield Recreation (7-2 at home to Primrose Hill Lib) pushed them up into second and third. First wins of the season for Milnsbridge 'B' (7-2 away at Almondbury BC 'B') and Thongsbridge 'B' (6-3 at home to Elland C&BC 'B') pushed them into mid-table.
The top two in Section 5 both lost for the first time this season this week although Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' manage to hold on to topspot after a surprise home defeat to Holmfirth 'B'. A really tight contest with a 116-116 aggregate draw enabled the visitors to claim the points 5-4. The RUBC were more comprehensively beaten when visiting New Mill 'B' with the 2-7 scoreline which saw them drop to third place. They were overtaken by Hemplow 'B' after their 6-3 home win over Broad Oak 'B' who sit level bottom on 7 points with David Brown Sports who lost 3-6 at Marsh Lib who moved fourth as a result. Greenhead Park beat Dalton to complete the scoring this week and they now sit comfortably in mid-table.
