Following up on the alternative Veterans 6-Man League final league tables for last season by now doing the same for the 10-Man League. These are reproduced below to show how the tables would have altered if the basis for positions was decided by the final 'Aggregate For' totals.
This version would see Lockwood Con only being 3 aggregate points off retaining their Division 1 title for an 8th consecutive season and 8 of the 12 teams would finish in a different position to the current scoring system.
Whilst the alternative system didn't result in any changes to the top position in each of the 5 divisions there were some notable changes in the running order for other key positions. In Division 4 for example Primrose Hill Lib moved into a promotion place even though the current points-based system had them finishing in 4th position. Even a bigger turnaround in Division 3 where Huddersfield Recreation Club would have been relegated under the alternative system despite finishing in a safe four positions higher placing in the current system.
I am not advocating any change in the scoring system but have done this just out of interest. In each of the five divisions, more than half of the teams would have finished in a different position than that achieved under the current format. I've got some more alternative Home & Away tables for the Veterans League to share with you over the coming days just out of idle curiosity.

As a totalling impartial captain of Huddersfield Rec Club, I was never a fan of the purely aggregate system LOL.
it would be interesting to see an alternative with a different scoring system, like the dearne and don with 1.5 for an away win
