Almondbury Lib 100% away win record ended

Veterans League Review of the matches played in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 of the 10-Man League on Tuesday 25 July

The clash of two unbeaten Division 1 team records saw Golcar Lib 'B' extend their 100% home record to six wins whilst ending Almondbury Lib's 100% six-match away win record, enabling the leaders to extend their lead to 6 points. Denby Dale and Brockholes 'A' retained 3rd and 4th places despite both losing matches on the road. Denby Dale going down 4-5 at Lockwood Con 'B' and the Badgers lost 2-7 at Kirkheaton C&BC 'A' who made it 7 wins from their last 8 fixtures and overtake Paddock I&C to go 5th.

Paddock I&C will be disappointed at not picking up more than 3 points from their trip to play bottom-of-the-table Meltham B. Outlane and Skel Windmill both had 6-3 away wins at Huddersfield Recreation Club and Slaithwaite respectively and both overtook Slaithwaite, who have lost their last three matches, in the table as a reward.

The top three teams in Division 4 all won their home fixtures this week to keep the running order at the top end unaltered.

Leaders Lindley Lib 'B' made it six wins on the trot when running up an 8-1 home win over Thongsbridge 'B' whilst Marsh Lib clocked up the same score in the Marsh derby match to stay third. Springwood recorded a third consecutive win when beating the Rugby Club 7-2 to retain third place. Ravensknowle Park had a good 6-3 home win over Lindley BC 'B' to pass Kirkheaton Con 'B' who lost 4-5 at bottom of the table Primrose Hill Lib.

It is all change at the top of the Division 5 table as Brockholes 'B' take over at the top after beating Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' 8-1 and go level on points with Milnsbridge 'B' but needing the better Aggregate For total to edge it. That counts for little as the Milnsbridge side has a match in hand over their rivals after they sat out this week's programme.

Netherton Con 'B' clocked up a very impressive 9-0 home win over Greenhead Park with the two teams swapping 3rd and 5th places as a result. Hemplow had a big 8-1 first away win of the season at Holmfirth 'B' and New Mill 'B' registered a sixth consecutive win this time 6-3 over Dalton to continue inching up the table. David Brown Sports 6-3 home victory over Broad Oak 'B' saw them pass their rivals to take 4th place and they are very much in contention for the promotion places. In fact the top six teams will all consider themselves, with some justification, to be involved in the race for promotion as only 10 points separate those 6 teams.
