Preview of all five divisions of the 10-Man League in one posting this week

The Kirkheaton Con A v Longwood Division 1 fixture has been postponed to ensure that the two Team KO finalists are playing on the same neutral Kirkheaton green on Friday. With Lowerhouses already opening a 12-point lead at the top of the Division that leaves the next five teams only separated by 2 points to sort out the chasing order between them.
The Elland derby match was a Division 2 fixture last season when the WMC completed a 6-3 winning double over their Cricket Club neighbours. They will have to improve on that 6-3 winning scoreline if they intend passing their Elland rivals in the table this week. Lindley Lib A seem to be best placed to take up the challenge of chasing the leader with a home match against 5th placed Rastrick to look forward to.
Lowerhouses will no doubt continue to do their own thing at the top of the table team and go to Lockwood Con A who, after a run of 5 straight defeats, ran out surprise 7-2 away winners at Golcar Lib last week. The ultimate test awaits them this Tuesday. After two good wins, Clayton West reverted to their early-season form when losing at home to Lindley Lib 3-6 last time out and with an away fixture at Golcar Lib this Tuesday will struggle to get out of the relegation places. The fact that there are only 10-points between teams at the foot of the table and second from top means almost all the teams have an interest in proceedings at both ends at the same time.

Second-placed Meltham A had a great Division 2 home win of 9-0 last week over Almondbury Lib who have to play the table-toppers, Netherton Con A, this week. Whereas the Meltham team go to play a Hemplow A side that hasn't won since the first day of the season. The top five teams all boast Won-5 Lost-2 season-long records to keep things tight between them with only five points separating the top six teams. Almondbury BC A and Thongsbridge A are in that mix of six teams and they face each other this Tuesday. Both teams are in a good run of results so things could be quite tight.
It is difficult to see any of the bottom four winning their matches this week so the six points gap between them and the rest of the teams is likely to grow even wider. That is especially so as three of those four have away matches this week with only Hemplow A having home advantage but as stated above the form of their opponents, Meltham A is as good as any in the Division.

Starting at the bottom of Division 3 today with the catch-up news from last week's rearranged fixture between Springwood and Kirkheaton C&BC A when the Springwood team clocked up their first win of 2026 with a convincing 8-1 home win. That brings some added spice to this Tuesday's encounter between Holmfirth A and Springwood with four points between the two teams deep in the relegation places. To add to the potential drama we have the two teams immediately above the drop zone going up against each other as well as Kirkheaton C&BC A host Paddock I&C.
At the top end of the table only Linthwaite Hall have a home fixture among the top four teams, so will be keen to build on that advantage when they host the team immediately below them in 3rd position, Golcar Lib B. Linthwaite Hall are the form team having won their last five matches including beating the leaders. New Mill A hold a five points lead at the top of the table and have to travel to play mid-table Skel Windmill.

Third in Division 4 are Kirkheaton Con B and despite only losing once all season sit in third position in the table. They have a difficult-looking match at 4th-placed Thongsbridge B this Tuesday so will do well to make up ground on the two teams above them, Marsh Lib A and Huddersfield RUBC. Marsh Lib are the new leaders and play away this week at mid-table Milnsbridge B whilst the Rugby Club have an easier looking home match against lowly Brockholes B.
The Brockholes B side are in the second relegation place and are one of three teams on the same 23-point mark. Below them sits David Brown Sports who have home advantage over fellow relegation-threatened Lockwood Con B are at the foot of the table. Marsh United B complete that band of three on the same mark and they will do well to narrow the gap to 5th from bottom Ravensknowle Park when they visit them this week.

Netherton Con B lost the Division 5 top spot last week as they didn't have a fixture and have a great chance to move back into the lead when they welcome new leaders, Lindley BC B, this Tuesday. Primrose Hill Lib are tucked in between those two but have to go to Dalton who have only lost one of their last four matches.
