Veterans 10-Man League
If the weather would only match the heat of the competition at the top of some our 10-Man League divisions then we would all be getting a good tan by now. As it is we have to settle for the intensity of matches to keep us warm and occupied.

Just 9 teams from the 61 that started the season remain unbeaten after the first three weeks of the season and 3 of those are in Section 2 with two of those going head-to-head this Tuesday. Kirkheaton Con 'A' entertain Thorpe Green who, despite those unbeaten records, are only 4th and 5th in the table. Leaders Broad Oak 'A' will watch with interest the outcome as they will expect to extend their own 100% run when away at lowly Hemplow 'A' who are the only side in the Section still looking for their first win. Bradley & Colne and Lindley BC 'A' sit 2nd and 3rd at present and both have away fixtures this week but both will have aspirations of retaining their lofty positions.
Lockwood Con 'A' may already have lost their unbeaten record by the time they line up for the Tuesday fixture as they go to Lindley Lib 'A' on Monday to catch up with their game in hand. Alternatively, they could be at the top of the Section 1 table with a good result behind them. Regardless of that they know that they are in for a true examination of their title credentials when Meltham 'A' come to town. Last season (2019) the two meetings of these teams finished 8-1 in both games with one win each so the reigning Champions will know that they will be thoroughly tested once again. Elland will be aiming to get their challenge back on track and what better place to do that than against the team currently at the bottom of the table with a trip to play Thongsbridge 'A'. Cowcliffe will have been buoyed by their Friday win ending Elland's run so that a trip to play a Netherton Con 'A' team still looking for their first win should hold little fear. The Lindley Lib 'A' v Longwood fixture completes a top 3 v bottom 3 setup although there may be a different composition of the top 3 by the time Tuesday comes around.
Golcar Lib 'B' hold the only unbeaten record in Section 3 and they will defend that when travelling to meet Meltham 'B' who are settling at this level following their relegation last time around. Leaders Holmfirth 'A' will need to play better than they did in their only previous away game when they go to play Skel Windmill who have their own design on a quick return to Section 2. Three narrow wins for Slaithwaite means an unbeaten start to the season but only 4th place in the table as they travel to Lowerhouses who remain well-positioned in the knowledge that they have already beaten the section leaders and will welcome the opportunity to pinch points from a team one point higher in the table than them. Two points separate the bottom 4 teams and 2 of those meet up this week. Outlane will be boosted by last week's first win of the season when they go to Almondbury Lib. The bottom two both get another opportunity to get a win on their records when having home advantage this week when bottom team Marsh United 'B' have Brockholes 'B' as visitors and Springwood host Lindley Lib 'B'.
The top 3 teams in Section 4 all retain 100% records so far and as they all avoid each other in this week's fixture programme could all extend those runs for another week. Leaders Lindley BC 'B' have swiftly climatised themselves to this level after promotion and will aim to continue their opening sequence of wins when hosting an Almondbury BC 'B' side still searching for an opening win. Denby Dale sit 3 points behind the leaders and have home advantage over Thongsbridge 'B' this week. Huddersfield Recreation Club will be tested to extend their winning run when they have to go to play Milnsbridge 'B'.
There are no unbeaten records in Section 5 to be defended and with only 12 points between first and last of the 10 teams there is everything to play for. The top 2 both have away fixtures this week with leaders Kirkheaton C&BC 'B' going to play a Broad Oak 'B' side who will be looking for a first win of the season whilst Hemplow 'B' are at Holmfirth 'B' who despite their lowly position have won more games than they have lost. The Rugby Club and Marsh Liberal are locked together on 16 points in 3rd and 4th spots and they meet up at Lockwood Park to sort out which team is to launch the first threat to the top two.
