Review of the Division 5 fixtures played at Netherton on Thursday

Three 8-0 scorelines in the first Division 5 matchday programme of 2023 on Thursday sorted the chaff from the wheat as folk say where I come from.

The three winners of those matches were Almondbury BC 'B', Brockholes 'B' and the table toppers Thorpe Green 'C' who had a good win over the home Netherton Con 'B' team. Their lead is now 6 points ahead of Almondbury BC 'A' who got revenge over Golcar C&BC who beat them by the same scoreline earlier in the season. Brockholes 'B' saw off the Rugby Club to leave them stranded at the foot of the table.

Milnsbridge 'C' dropped out of the promotion places after losing 2-6 to a resolute Springwood 'C' team who move level on points with their opponents although both teams are 4 points off the second promotion place.

Regardless of the results all the teams were grateful that the day remained dry for almost the full session as Thursdays seem to have a habit of saving the most inclement weather of the week for 11.30am each week during the winter season.
