Four shock results in Bistro

Veterans League

The unique format of the Bistro KO of 5-Pairs, team handicaps and aggregate totals deciding the winners, always seems to produce some surprise results. The Round of the Last 32 this year was no exception to that outcome. Here is a list of the teams lower down the pecking order than their opponents who produced those four surprise results this week starting with the biggest shock of the day when a Division 5 struggler beat a Division 1 top-four team.

Hemplow B 2nd to bottom of Division 5 with a handicap of +40 who beat their Division 1 opponents from Elland C&BC (+6) by 109-106.

Division 4 leaders Kirkheaton Con B (+36) beat Division 1 opponents Lockwood Con A (+3) by 123-86 so didn't need the handicap at all.

Division 3 side Linthwaite Hall (+20) beat Division 2 opposition from Broad Oak A (+13) by 110-107.

Thorpe Green and Greenhead Park share the Thorpe Green green as their home but played this tie at Lindley Lib where Greenhead Park (+46), 3rd from bottom of Division 5, beat the mid-table Division 3 side Thorpe Green by 126-111.

A big thank you from Almondbury BC to Skel Windmill

I really would appreciate, not only on behalf of Almondbury BC ‘A’ but also our opponents Golcar Lib ‘A’,  (Team Knockout Champions 2026), our thanks to everyone connected with Skelmanthorpe Windmill BC, for such excellent organisation, in measures, catering (generous supply of water and juice etc ) and overall welcome that the Skelmanthorpe Windmill club offered both teams in yesterday's Bistro Cup round 32 tie. 

The Skelmanthorpe club could not have been more accommodating and helpful to both teams, and even though we (Almondbury BC ‘A’) lost the match, the afternoon on a very hot day, was made a success by the members of Skelmanthorpe Windmill who did a fantastic job, in measuring and hydrating both teams.  Well done the Windmill.
