15-Point title lead for Golcar Lib

Veterans League

Review of the fixtures played in Divisions 1 & 2 on Tuesday 30 May

Only one away winner in the 12 matches in the League's top two divisions this week as both leaders reaffirm their grips on the races for the title.

All six Division 1 fixtures this week were won by the home teams with leaders, Golcar Lib 'A', recording the biggest win of the day with an 8-1 victory over Meltham 'A'. that stretched their lead at the top to a massive 15 points as we reach the third-of-the-way point of the season. A 7-2 win for Cowcliffe over Waterloo saw them move into second place on a better 'Aggregate For' total than Rastrick who were without a match this week.

Marsh United 'A's title hopes took a further setback with a second successive defeat this time at Kirkheaton Con 'A' and they drop a place to fourth as a result. Despite a good 6-3 home win for Clayton West over Lowerhouses they remain in the second relegation place level on points with Elland C&BC and both 12 points ahead of bottom team Milnsbridge 'A'.

Elland C&BC had a 5-4 home win over Lockwood Con 'A' whilst Milnsbridge lost for the 4th consecutive week this time 2-7 at Longwood.

The top clash in Division 2 saw Netherton Con 'A' come good with a 6-3 home win over leaders Lindley Lib 'A' and move up a place into the second promotion slot and just three points behind the leaders. That result could have so easily been very different with Netherton just edging the aggregate points by 128-127. Shepley were without a match and slip two places to fourth spot behind Lindley BC 'A' who halted Almondbury BC 'A's 5-match run of 6-3 wins, ironically by that same scoreline.

Broad Oak 'A' keep fifth place after their 7-2 home win over Hemplow 'A' who were overtaken by Linthwaite Hall who jumped three places from bottom spot to tenth after a tremendous 8-1 home win over Holmfirth 'A' who find themselves at the foot of the table. Bradley & Colne join them in the relegation places after suffering the division's only home defeat of the day when going down 3-6 to Thongsbridge 'A'.
