The second round of the Friday fixtures for Section 1 and 2 teams takes place today and with Section 1 leaders Elland C&BC 'A' not having a match all eyes will be focused on Lockwood Con 'A' as they attempt to halt a three-match run of defeats. They are at Rastrick and even if they win may not go back to the top as second-placed Cowcliffe are well in contention. They travel to play in-form Clayton West on a three-match winning run which included a win at Lockwood Con. Hovering behind the top three are Longwood who visit bottom of the table Thongsbridge 'A', and Golcar Lib 'A' and Waterloo who both have winnable home matches. It is hotting up to one of the closest title races for some years involving more teams than is the norm for this Section.

New Section 2 leaders Kirkheaton Con 'A' are one of only two of the top 7 teams playing at home this round as they take on mid-table New Mill 'A' with the other homester being Broad Oak 'A' who are hosting the unbeaten Thorpe Green side. The other five top half teams all have to travel with Milnsbridge having the easier task on paper of a trip to play Hemplow. The bottom three teams are separated by just three points so every win is now vital, not just for these three but there are at least two other teams looking over their shoulders and dreading what might be the outcome of a bad week.
