Bowling News
Well done and Congratulations to the Yorkshire county team for the wonderful achievement of winning the top team trophy in British crown green bowling this weekend. Yorkshire won the BCGBA Senior County Championship yesterday with a 13-11 match win and a 445-425 aggregate score to lift the Crosfield Cup for the first time since 2016.
The opposition was the strongest it could possibly be as Warwick & Worcester had won the competition for the last two years that it had been played and were fully focused on making it a hat-trick of wins. In fact, Warwick & Worcester have claimed the trophy 6 times in the last 8 years before this Sunday's final match indicating their latter-day dominance of this competition. Although this was a straight knock-out competition this year, instead of the usual league format, because of the COVID-19 factor reducing the bowling season that didn't detract from the achievement one iota.
An 8-4 home win played at Meltham set the scene and gaining 5 wins in the away leg resulting in a 13-11 match advantage. With 2 points for the better aggregate (445-425) making the final score 15-11 for a tremendous result against the reigning Champions. The full result cards are below and watch out for a neutral's report on the away leg to be added to the website later today along with a team photo.
