The Winter League Management Committee (MC) is to meet on Tuesday (15 September) to make decisions about the hosting arrangements for Divisions 8 and 11 for the 2026-27 season. Lockwood Con have closed their green for 6 months as part of a recovery programme and it is no longer available to the Winter League for its Division 8 teams. The search goes on for a replacement host club.
The Management Committee consists of representatives from each of the current 9 host clubs along with the League Officials and six independent members. They will meet to consider 9 different options already circulated to members with the hope that one of those options will be accepted by the MC to ensure the continuity of Division 8 and the eight teams associated with it. Those 8 teams being Broad Oak A & B, New Mill C, Lockwood Con C, Mirfield CBC B, Golcar C&BC, Kirkheaton C&BC C and Greenhead Park.
In addition, if one option is supported then it is hoped that a new Division 11 may also be formed to open the door to the teams on the Waiting List to join the League. There are currently 5 teams on that Waiting List and they are Thongsbridge B, New Mill D, Lindley Lib D, Lowerhouses C and Netherton Con C. That means there are currently three vacancies that could slot into Division 11 to make it another 8-team division if a solution can be formed to cover the hosting arrangements.
