Winter League
Right, that's the end of the Christmas break for the Winter League so back down to business. The Division 3 programme restarts first with a full 4-match listing this Monday at Thorpe Green. The feature match is the confrontation between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams as Lindley BC 'B' take on Brockholes. Anything other than a win for Brockholes could almost end their promotion aspirations as they are 8 points behind this week's opponents having played a match more than them. That gap cannot get any wider if the resolution of matters is to be delayed any further. Lindley BC 'B' have won 4 of their last 5 matches 8-0 so are the form team in the division and will start favourites although the teams did draw 4-4 when they met back in October.
The leaders are Thorpe Green 'C' and they are on a run of 9 unbeaten matches although that run includes a 4-4 draw with this week's opponents from Lowerhouses 'B'. Thorpe Green 'C' currently have a lead of 4 points over 2nd placed Lindley BC 'B' but have played a match more than them. They really would like Brockholes to take some points off the Lindley outfit this week to keep things tight at the top.
Bottom-of-the-table Springwood 'B' are 20 points behind third from bottom Milnsbridge 'B' who they meet this week and who will be looking to bounce back from a surprise 2-6 defeat against the Recreation Club 'B' last time out. The Recreation Club 'B' take on Rastrick 'B' who have gone off the boil after a great start to the season and are currently on a run of 4 matches without a win.
Spectators are most welcome with hot drinks (including soup and Bovril) and refreshments are always available along with a warm welcome and fellow followers of our sport to natter to.
Divisions 1 and 2 resume their seasons this week as well and we preview all their coming matches over the next two days on the website starting with Division 2 tomorrow.
