Top v Bottom in Division 1 clash

Veterans League

Preview of Monday's fixtures in the Veterans 6-Man League

Top of the Division 1 table, Clayton West, travel to play bottom-of-the-table Skel Windmill A with 47 points separating the teams at present. Whereas the Clayton team have won their last 5 fixtures, the Skel team are on a four-match losing run with only one win in their last 11 matches. Second-placed Marsh United A have a stiffer challenge away to 5th placed Waterloo. Broad Oak A can match the leader's Won-11 Lost-2 record but are 12 points behind them and have just ended a 10-match winning run after losing at Marsh United A. They need to return to winning ways if their hopes of pushing the leaders all the way can materialise then they must look to pick up maximum points from their home match with relegation-threatened Thongsbridge A.

Just above the bottom two sit Lindley Lib A (10th on 31 pts) and Golcar C&BC (9th on 37 pts) as they go into a head-to-head this week where home advantage for the Golcar side could be key to the outcome.

Division 2 leaders, New Mill A, will be pleased to see that their two nearest challengers, Brockholes A (2nd on 59pts) and Almondbury Lib (3rd on 57pts) face each other this Monday whilst they have an easier-looking match at home to a struggling Denby Dale team. They will expect to have extended their lead at the end of week 14 in the 6-Man League season.

The two teams currently sat in the relegation places, Brockholes B and Milnsbridge B both have home fixtures this week against Marsh Lib A and Golcar Lib A respectively. It is possible that one of them will have vacated the relegation places by the end of the day.

The top four teams in Division 3 are engaged with each other this Monday as the leaders, Thongsbridge B, host Crosland Moor (4th) and Golcar Lib B (3rd) entertain Hemplow A (2nd). Two teams trying to opt out of the second relegation place go up against each other as Greenhead Park (10th on 30 points) are at home to Elland C&BC (11th on 27 points). The two teams above them also go up against each other, with Lindley Lib B at home to Primrose Hill Lib.

A top versus bottom clash in Division 4 sees the leaders, Netherton Con B, travelling to play Brockholes D with 46 points between the two teams there can only be one outcome, surely. The teams in 2nd and 4th positions, Meltham and Hemplow B, face each other with Meltham holding an 8-point lead over their rivals at this time.
