Winter League Open Day

Winter League

The Winter League is holding an Open Day to make a short presentation to anyone who is interested in how the Winter League works and what the secret is behind the phenomenal success of the League over the last 6 years. We want to attract even more teams to enjoy the experience of bowling over the Winter months but we can only do that if we have sufficient host greens to match the ever-increasing demand for more teams to join the League. Come and join us from 12noon on Thursday 13 November at Netherton Con.

Our objective in this session is to create interest among prospective host greens and to provide all the information they need to help them make their mind up if their club is a good fit to gain all the benefits that nine local clubs are already getting every week through the winter months. No need to book in, just turn up on the day and join us.

It is not just host greens we are hoping to attract but we aim to inform prospective new teams what the attraction is that sees over 300 bowlers turning out once a week from October to the end of February. This season we have 17 new teams joining the League which takes our total up to 80 teams. The League is open to men and women over-60 years of age and of all levels of bowling prowess. It is not just bowlers that turn out every week but a growing band of spectators and supporters keep coming right through the winter to enjoy the friendship, hot food and social inter-action that is important to so many of us during the quiet winter months. Attendance on matchdays averages between 50-70 bowlers and spectators at each of our nine host greens.

We have chosen Netherton Con as the venue for this Open Day so that visitors can enjoy the unique experience that comes with the attraction of Winter bowling. Thursday 13 November is a normal matchday for teams in Division 6 to congregate at Netherton Con for their weekly local fix of bowling, banter, competition and chatter with like-minded individuals. The bar will be open and we will be providing light refreshments and hot drinks to all who attend. What have you got to lose?

The presentation will only last 30 minutes but we will be there as long at anyone wants to ask us any questions about the League. So come and join us for a hot drink and learn what this new crazy idea means to so many people. You don't need to book, just turn up and take a seat. Bring a teammate so that you can exchange impressions and help decide if it is something you want to follow up on.

We start at 12noon in the Netherton Con clubhouse but get yourself there early to witness the buzz there is on matchday from 11.00am as teams meet up to join in the remarkable experience of another day of Winter bowling. You will not regret it.
