Winter League
The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Huddersfield Winter League will be held at Netherton Conservative Club at 10.00am on Wednesday 26 July. The agenda, minutes of the 2022 AGM and the 2022-23 Finance Report are all included below and open for public viewing.
The League prides itself on many things, openness and transparency in all its dealings being among them. That is why we publish the dealings of the League as often as possible. How many Leagues do you know that share this level of information with anyone who has an interest in reading them?
Add to that the fact that the League is different in almost every aspect to any other League in the area. This includes providing competitive bowling for mixed gender over-60s outside during the winter months. None of the League officials receive a honorarium for their services and fees are kept as low as is possible to entice more teams and bowlers into the competition. We don't pay any prize money to any team or individual winners. Then add to that the attendance at some of the League matchdays which have exceeded 70 people, outside in the middle of winter! A Cup competition that attracted 104 entries! A sold out presentation event, the list goes on.
It is clear that the bowlers in Huddersfield have welcomed this approach and supported it in unprecedented numbers. Those that pooh-poohed the concept of winter bowling, spoke against and even tried to stop it, can no longer ignore its presence and success.
The 2023 AGM will look back over the past year to ensure that the experiences endured will inform the future and more importantly plans for next season will be shared, discussed and agreed upon by the teams.
Any team that may be interested in joining the League in the future are welcome to attend the meeting to get a feel for what it is all about. You cannot vote on any matter but you will get a feel for how the League works and what is important to member teams.
