The Bowls Central website provides year-round advice on how to look after your bowling green and it has now come up with its December programme of things that need doing and what to stop doing.
What to do
At least one 8mm cut this month
Spot treatment of fungicide as required
An application of a compost tea/seaweed liquid
Regular removal of surface wormcasts
Deep slit (125mm-200mm) tining is the most important job this month
What not to do
Do not tackle moss over the winter months
No blanket spraying of fungicides
The full programme with details on why you should follow each of these tasks is provided here. The site also offers a free answering service to any green-related queries that anyone may have. Well worth a look.
