What a difference a week makes

Ladies Works League

Match Reports for 12-16 July

Preview of matches for 19-23 July

Last Monday I was away on holiday but I understand that there was a little bit of rain for the matchday greens to soak up or the bit that didn't get soaked up by the bowlers. Norma Maxwell has provided me three photographs from last Monday's Ladies Works League match at Farnley Tyas between Brook Hansen 'A' and Bolster Moor Farm Shop in the rain.

This Monday we are in the middle of a mid-summer heatwave so how about adding some photographs from local matches in any league played this Monday? Contact Me

The match photos above don't tell the whole story as the visiting Bolster Moor team adapted to the conditions better than their higher opponents and ran out 128-112 winners after claiming 6 of the 8 games. That denied the Brook Hansen 'A' side second place in the Division 1 table as they are now just 5 points (1074-1069) behind Alicia Dawn Photography who went down heavily 165-86 at Atkinson's Butchers on Friday. That gives the Butchers a massive lead due to their 100% win record and their only target can now be to complete the season unbeaten and no-one is going to bet against that.

Just two fixtures completed in Division 2 this week and they saw big wins for D Haigh and Pearce Displays which put them clear as the top two. Pearce Displays hitting their biggest total of the season when defeating personaliseHR 155-92. D Haigh had a comfortable home win over Colne Valley Garden Centre to cement their place at the top although Paul's Kitchens and Holmes Dresser are still within range but increasingly it looks like they are in a three-way contest with Pearce Displays for the second promotion place.

That Division 2 battle may become clearer this coming week after Paul's Kitchens host the leaders on Wednesday evening and if the pack is to threaten D Haigh & Co then Paul's Kitchens must repeat the win they achieved over the leaders earlier in the season which remains the only blot on their record to date.

The big match in Division 1 this week features the two teams competing for the runners-up spot when Alicia Dawn Photography has home advantage over Brook Hansen 'A' and they will be out to avenge the 151-123 defeat they suffered at Farnley Tyas earlier in the season. With just 5 points between the teams, it is undoubtedly the pivotal moment in the season for both teams. Don't rule out Bolster Moor Farm Shop nudging into the battle as well and a big home win on Monday against a PEG Perego team still looking for their first win of the season could put additional pressure on the other contenders.
