The Winter League is different

Winter League

The Winter League is proud of being different from any other League in the area for a number of reasons. The latest of those was explained to the 80 teams represented at the 42-minute Annual General Meeting held on Friday afternoon at Lindley Liberal Club.

Succession Planning was the topic raised and progress made to date was shared with members. The purpose is to plan ahead and protect the long term future of the League. That will be done by identifying four individuals to take over the four posts of the League Officials when the time is ripe. The intention is to appoint deputies for each of the positions of Chairman, League Secretary, Treasurer and Competition Secretary.

Currently, three deputies have been identified and over the coming months will ease themselves into those positions by working alongside the current postholder. That will give them an insight to the duties and responsibilities of the posts so that there will be no surprises when they eventually take over. In addition this move will make towards a seamless transition of the roles in due course. Rule changes were supported by the meeting to formalise the four new posts and make them members of the League's Management Committee.

The one vacancy that remains is that of the Deputy Chairman. Anyone interested in learning more about that role with a view to taking on the post at some time in the future can contact Richard Long at richardlong41@btinternet.com.

The current situation with the four posts, along with the new deputy post holders, is covered in the chart below.
