Only Golcar Lib A from the top 5 teams in Division 1 won their matches this week in a wake-up call for the leading bunch of title contenders. Before the Tuesday fixtures started Longwood and Lowerhouses led the way but both lost their away matches this week. Longwood were narrow losers at Cowcliffe where a 126-127 aggregate scoreline pinched the points from them as they went down 4-5. Whereas Lowerhouses were surprisingly beaten at lowly Lindley Lib A by 2-7. Longwood retain top spot but Lowerhouses have been overtaken by the solitary top five winning team Golcar Lib A. They beat another top five team in Rastrick by 6-3 to split the top two.
Kirkheaton Con A being another top five casualty when going down at home to Lockwood Con A who were winning for the third consecutive time after a 4-match losing opening run. Another close aggregate scoreline 123-126 clinching the points for the visitors. Clayton West were the main benefactor of the top five results after they had a 7-2 home win over Meltham A to move up to 4th position.
The Waterloo v Marsh United result remains outstanding at present unless someone can advise me of the outcome, or alternatively, we wait until Bowlsnet is feeling better.

The battle of the bottom two teams in Division 2 went emphatically in favour of Denby Dale as they overwhelmed Golcar Lib B by 8-1 and move up two places in the table as a result. That throws New Mill A and Netherton Con A right into the relegation mix making next Tuesday's catch-up fixture between Golcar Lib B and New Mill A all the more important. The Netherton team were overpowered by runaway leaders Elland C&BC by 8-1 but a 9-man New Mill A team almost overcame the one short handicap but eventually lost the aggregate score to visitors Thongsbridge A 120-124 to lose 4-5 on points.
The Elland C&BC win coupled with Elland WMC narrowly going down 4-5 (116-119 aggregate) at Milnsbridge A saw the leaders extend their advantage at the top to 13 points. That outcome pulled the WMC team back into range of the chasing pack of four teams who are only separated by one point between themselves. Shepley were the only losers this week among that quartet when they went down 3-6 at Lindley BC A.
Almondbury BC A are in danger of becoming involved in the relegation fight after two very contrasting results makes them very unpredictable but incredibally close to the relegation drop zone. After beating Elland WMC on their own green the previous week they then lose at home to Broad Oak A by 3-6 leaving them just hovering above the drop zone.
