Veterans League

Leeds are the reigning Yorkshire Veterans Inter-District Champions and an overall 26-30 defeat on Friday isn't the end of the world for the Huddersfield team's aspirations to win the title for the first time since 2019. However coupled with an opening day 32-24 win over Skipton it leaves our representative teams in 6th position some 16 points behind the leaders, Halifax, and a lot of points needed from their remaining six fixtures.

One positive to come out of the Leeds matches was the winning debuts for two new Huddersfield team members. Tony Cross (Linthwaite Hall) and Adrian 'Crafty' Cooper (Kirkheaton Con) as both recorded 21-17 debut wins for their respective teams.

Next up on Friday 31 May the Huddersfield teams play Castleford who are one place but 22 points behind the Huddersfield team in the table below which shows that there are nine teams in the League this season so one team sits out each round. It is West Riding's turn to stand down in the next round of matches and they are one of the five teams above Huddersfield in the latest league table. The last week of the season, Friday 6 September, it will be the Huddersfield team's bye week so it is imperative that they build up a good stash of points before then.
