Two-in-a-day is great for Clayton West

Winter League

Two extra matches this Wednesday in Division 1 as teams catch up with last week's postponed fixtures. Clayton West being the main benefactors of 2-games-in-a-day with two 6-2 wins to propel them from sixth to second place. Neither of the other two teams playing twice managed to win both as Lindley BC 'A' and Kirkheaton Con missed out on closing in on the runners-up spot.

Clayton West beat Lindley BC 'A' and Thorpe Green 'A' using the same four-man line-up for both matches. Those 12 points make them level on points with Kirkheaton Cons who had a good morning 6-2 win over the New Millers but then went down by the same scoreline to Lindley BC 'A' in the 12noon start time match.

Thorpe Green 'A' dropped two points to Clayton West but dropped from second to fifth as a result which is one above New Millers after they went down to Kirkheaton Cons but they do have a game in hand over the other four teams vying for second place. Seven points separate the teams holding 2nd to 6th places but the last of those, New Millers, have a game in hand over the other four team so things are indeed very tight at present.

Milnsbridge 'A' had a comprehensive 8-0 victory over Rastrick 'A' to move them level with Lowerhouses 'A' on 28 points although the 4-points better Aggregate For score kept Lowerhouses out of the second relegation place, for now. It seems that one of these two teams will accompany Rastrick 'A' through the relegation trapdoor unless things change dramatically soon.
