On to Week 2 of the Division 3 season at Springwood and it will be interesting to see if Almondbury BC B can continue their meteoric rise up three divisions of the League tables and claim the top spot for themselves this week. Just out of interest I looked back to the 2021-22 season which was the first season that an Almondbury BC team joined the League. Three of that team played in the opening match of this season on the same Springwood green which was a Division 2 venue at that time. This Wednesday they take on a Lindley BC team who have played in all the top three divisions in the 6 years they have been in the League and are looking for their first win of this season.

Slaithwaite know all about meteoric rises as they begin their third season in the League having won the Division title in each of their previous two seasons. Winning the 2023-24 Division 5 title by 18 points then going on to claim the Division 4 title at Primrose Hill Lib last year by 10 points. A strong start to this campaign is in keeping with their track record which they will expect to maintain when playing Lockwood Con A this week.

Last week the Thorpe Green C versus Lindley Lib B encounter ended in a 4-4 draw so both teams will be looking to build on that by winning their Wednesday fixtures this week. The Lindley Lib team meet their hosts, Springwood A, after their first win of the season whilst the Thorpe Green team have to face a Denby Dale side intent on clawing back their 10-point penalty as soon as possible.
