Top v Bottom twice this week

Winter League

Preview of the Division 1 & 2 fixtures scheduled for Wednesday 18 January

We have a top versus clash in each of the top two divisions this Wednesday with the title hopes of several teams hanging in the balance awaiting the outcome of these matches. Lower Hopton lead the Division 1 table and they take on bottom-of-the-pile Lindley BC 'A' who could be relegated this week if results continue to go against them.

A meeting of the 2nd and 3rd placed teams is also on the Wednesday agenda as Clayton West and Thorpe Green 'A' go head-to-head. Thorpe Green, unbeaten in their last 4 matches, will aim to preserve their 7-point lead over Clayton West who have tasted defeat only once in their last 6 fixtures.

That leaves the four teams on 44 points all playing each other this week. Kirkheaton Con meet Lindley Lib 'A' who won 6-2 when they met earlier in the season. The New Millers and Meltham make up the programme and a repeat of the early season 4-4 draw won't suit either of the teams who both badly need the points.

The top versus bottom clash in Division 2 offers the leaders, Lindley BC 'B' the opportunity to return to winning ways after only one win in their last 4 matches. However their opponents, Rastrick 'A' are on a high after a second win of the season last week and mathematically still in with a chance of avoiding relegation although that could disappear this week if the results go against them.

Lowerhouses 'A' have won their last four matches by the same 6-2 scoreline which has resulted in them sitting comfortably in the second promotion place and they meet the out-of-form Springwood 'A' side who haven't won any of their last 5 matches. Milnsbridge 'A' and Lockwood Con sit 3rd and 4th in the Division 2 table and they meet this week in what is surely the last chance saloon for both teams in their quest to claim the second promotion spot.

Jackson Bridge are 4 points behind Denby Dale as the teams prepare for their match against each other this week with the loser inevitably taking the second relegation place. However Jackson Bridge have the best run of form in the division, unbeaten in their last 6 matches, but they did lose the earlier meeting of the two teams by 2-6.
