Top two break away in Division 4 promotion race

Winter League

Review of the Division 4 matches played at Lindley Lib on Monday 29 January

The Division 3 fixture programme on Monday was postponed due to a waterlogged Primrose Hill Lib green and all the matches have been rearranged for Thursday this week. The Division 4 programme went ahead as normal and the green behaved very well considering the amount of water dumped on it over the previous 12 hours.

The damp conditions suited the Division 4 leaders, New Mill B, who beat third-placed Lindley Lib C 6-2 to stay clear at the top although Thorpe Green C edged closer after an 8-0 whitewash win over Kirkheaton C&BC and are now within 2-points of the leaders. Lindley Lib C drop a place after their defeat and with only two wins in their last six they are in danger of being cast adrift of the promotion race. That defeat for Kirkheaton C&BC placed them firmly in the drop zone and with no wins in their last 5 they are in trouble.

A 6-2 win for Netherton Con A kept them involved at the top end of the table but they now rely on one of the top two slipping up to let them back into the promotion race. They beat Almondbury BC A who remain in the relegation places. Springwood B lost for the 8th successive time and could be relegated next week if results go against them. This week going down in a 2-6 scoreline to Milnsbridge C who seem destined for a mid-table finish.
