Veterans League
Preview of the Veterans 10-Man League Divisions 1 & 2 fixtures for Tuesday 11 June
There is a top of the table clash in Division 1 this Tuesday as the top two teams go up against each other. Four points separate Lowerhouses from Longwood and both have won 6 of their 7 fixtures this season. Longwood will want to use home advantage to narrow that gap to keep the title race wide open but will need to be in top form to make an impact on their visitors playing record. Both teams strengthened their playing squads for the 2024 season and are reaping the benefits of that now. Longwood only escaped relegation on the last day of last season and whatever happens on Tuesday they will still have made great improvement on last term
Lockwood Con A are third and awaiting any slip-ups by the top two but will need to be on top form to threaten Kirkheaton Con A's home record. The next four teams have only two points between them and all four have home matches this week. As well as Kirkheaton Con A there are home fixtures for Lindley BC A, Golcar Lib A and Waterloo.
Netherton Con A are still looking for their first win since their promotion to the top level and a trip to play Cowcliiffe would not be their preferred opponent this week.
In Division 2 Elland C&BC will want to bounce back from their defeat last week at the hands of near rivals Milnsbridge A and a home match should provide that platform for them. New Mill A will see the opposite as they look to improve on 5th place and a match against a top two opponent offers such an opportunity. Third-placed Milnsbridge A will be looking to build on last week's big win but will have to get past an in-form Thongsbridge A side who have won 3 of their last 4 matches, as have Milnsbridge.
There are just 2 points between the bottom 4 teams and three of those teams have home matches this week. The odd ones out being Shepley A who have to play fellow strugglers Broad Oak A. The other two teams in trouble are the two Almondbury teams with the Liberal Club at home to the Division 2 leaders, Meltham, and Almondbury BC A have to face mid-table Golcar Lib B.
Linthwaite Hall have won 2 of their last 3 fixtures to move out of the bottom four but will be pushed to retain that status when going to play Lindley Lib A who have only lost once in their last 5 matches and that was against the leaders.
