Winter League
This week's fixture list throws up a pre-Christmas crunchtime clash at Springwood as the top two go head-to-head in the battle for the prize of end of season divisional champions.
Leaders Clayton West meet Kirkheaton Con with what looks like a comfortable 11 point lead, however, all is not as it seems at first glance. The Cons Club have a game in hand on their rivals and a big win this week could turn the focus entirely and put pressure on the West side who have lost just once so far this season.
At the other end the bottom two face each other as well although Lowerhouses 'B' will still be in bottom spot whatever happens this week with the Recreation Club some 7 points ahead of them. However again, the game in hand that Lowerhouses has could prove important before the end of season should the game this week go their way. Mid-table two-some Rastrick and Springwood face each other as two teams in form with Rastrick recording a 6-0 win last week to go third in the table whilst Springwood are on a three-match unbeaten run.
Over at Milnsbridge the host club's two teams go head-to-head with goodwill likely to be confined to the clubhouse as the 'A' side need the points to maintain the pressure on faltering leaders Lowerhouses 'A' and the 'B' team would love to log their first win of the season against their higher placed cousins.
Leaders Lowerhouses 'A' are desperate to return to winning ways after two straight defeats ended their initial 6-game unbeaten run and they now hold a much reduced lead over Milnsbridge 'A'. This week they take on Thorpe Green who have never suffered a 0-6 reversal respite only winning 3 matches all season. The fast finishing Lindley BC who are unbeaten since the opening day of the season and their 6 consecutive victories has made them a real threat to the two teams above them especially with their game in hand. They wont have everything their own way against Dalton who have won their last two games.
After two sunny days for our matches last week we cannot expect that to continue and, according to the BBC weather team, it wont.
A cloudy but dry day is forecast for match start time on Tuesday with temperatures reaching no higher than six degrees centigrade,
