Winter League
A preview of the Divisions 5 & 6 fixture programme scheduled for Thursday 9 November
The top two teams in Division 5 are only separated by the better Aggregate For total which puts Outlane just in front of Brockholes B. Both teams play bottom half-of-the-table opponents this Thursday so it could still be down to the Aggregate For difference once again.
Outlane play Mirfield A to see two new teams to the League pitched against each other. Brockholes B take on bottom of the table Jackson Bridge who are still looking for their first win of the season.
Slaithwaite are very much in contention for end-of-season honours and are only two points behind the two leaders but with a match in hand over both of them. This week they play Almondbury BC B who appear to still have a hangover from their last day of last season catastrophe when they dropped from 1st to 3rd and missed out on the title and promotion.
The remaining fixture pits the 4th and 5th placed teams against each other as Huddersfield Recreation Club B and Springwood C meet up. Both have Won 1 Drawn 1 Lost 1 records to date although the Springwood side have had the more difficult opening to the season coming up against 2 of the top 3 teams so far.
It is very tight at the top of Division 6 as only 6 points separate the top 6 teams led by Linthwaite Hall who hold the only unbeaten record in the division to date. The bottom three teams are well adrift of the top 6 and it is one of the bottom three that Linthwaite Hall meet this Thursday. Kirkheaton Con B are their opponents and like the other two teams in that bottom trio they are still looking for their first win of the season.
The other two bottom trio occupants face each other so there is every chance that one of them will break that bit of unwanted history as Mirfield B and Broad Oak face each other. That sets up nicely the two remaining fixtures where top six teams go head to head. New Mill C, like the leaders, have played a match less than their top six opponents and will be depending on that to edge them over the line against Golcar C&BC this week. That leaves the teams in 3rd and 4th positions to fight out the right to at least retain those positions as Lockwood Con B and Cowcliffe B meet up.
