Division 6 leaders Cowcliffe B will not expect their unbeaten record to be threatened when they play bottom team Netherton Con B this Thursday. However stranger things have happened but three teams on the same 26 point mark will be hoping for a resounding win for the Cowcliffe team to preserve the gap between them and the bottom team. Springwood B sit between those three teams and the foot of the table and this week play one of that trio, Almondbury BC A.

The other two teams in that precarious position are Outlane A and Hanging Heaton B and they play the teams currently in 2nd and 3rd positions, Brockholes B and Springwood C. It seems inevitable that not all, or even any, of the threatened teams will avoid defeat this week so things are likely to get more complicated before the better teams emerge from this round of fixtures with a few extra points, which will make all the difference to their future well-being.

The Division 7 leaders, Kirkheaton Con B, are on a run of six unbeaten matches but now come up against the last team to beat them, Marsh Lib A, who currently sit in 4th position but are only four points behind the leaders. Marsh Lib A are one of three teams on the same 42 points mark and occupying the places from 2nd to 4th. The other two teams in that race meet each other with Holmfirth taking on Huddersfield RUFC with the winner likely to land in the second promotion place.

With the top four teams all occupied playing each other it means that the bottom four teams are also in opposition with each other. Lockwood Con B are the form team in the bottom half of the table having won their last three fixtures and are matched up against New Mill C this week, who sit in the 2nd relegation place at present. That leaves Huddersfield Recreation Club to face bottom-of-the-pile Broad Oak A who are still looking for their first win of the season. Broad Oak A are one of only two of the 80 teams in the Winter League still without a win this season. The other one being Division 1 outfit, Golcar Lib.
