Review of the Divisions 1 & 2 results from Wednesday 6 December fixtures
When the two top teams in the top division go head-to-head you expect a closely contested affair but it didn't seem like that when Thorpe Green took A took on New Mill A on Wednesday. The green was rock hard after a week of frosts but that didn't deter the leaders who ran out 6-2 winners with a 13-points aggregate advantage.
Clayton West retained their interest in the title chase with a rare 5-3 scoreline win over Lowerhouses A after a 56=56 aggregate draw which left Clayton in third place but only 5 points behind the leaders with a match in hand so very handily placed.
The top Division 1 selections in the Fantasy League were reigning Champions, Lower Hopton, and reigning Veterans League Champions, Golcar Lib, in their first season in the League and this week they met for the first time. Winter bowling experience proved crucial as the Lower Hopton team ran out 6-2 winners to move up a place to 4th in the table after extending their unbeaten run to four matches. Meltham won the meeting of the bottom two teams to lift themselves from bottom spot to out of the relegation places after beating Kirkheaton Con A who sank to the bottom of the table.
Division 2 leaders Cowcliffe A were without a match this week and saw their lead cut to 10 points with Milnsbridge taking over second-place after a 6-2 win over Huddersfield Recreation Club. They passed Lindley BC B who suffered a 0-8 reversal by a resurgent Denby Dale team who were winning their third successive match after a slow start to the season. That win enabled Denby Dale to pass their opponents and claim third place.
Brockholes A started the day at the foot of the table and finished it three places higher after a resounding 8-0 win over Lockwood Con which sent the losers into the relegation places. Four points separate the bottom four teams which now includes Springwood A after they lost to Lindley Lib A by 2-6.
