Thorpe Green extend Division 1 lead

Winter League

Review of the Division 1 fixtures played on Wednesday 14 January at Milnsbridge BC

Thorpe Green continue their pursuit of a third consecutive Division 1 title-winning season after a 6-2 win over Hanging Heaton A on Wednesday. With the nearest challengers, Lower Hopton, being held to a 4-4 draw by New Mill A, enabled the leaders to stretch their dominance to 11 points. Those four points also worked for the New Mill team as they added to the gap to the relegation places which is now 7 points..

The bottom two teams played each other with Kirkheaton Con A beating Golcar Lib 6-2 which completed a League double for the Kirkheaton side but did little for their hopes of avoiding a first-ever relegation. That also left the Golcar team still awaiting their first win of the season and looking destined to an immediate return to Division 2 for next season.

The meeting of Lindley BC A and Cowcliffe A went the way of the Lindley team and made that just one defeat in their last five matches, whilst it was the opposite outcome for the Cowcliffe team as that added up to just one win in their last five fixtures as they hang on to third place for now.
