This weeks unheralded statistics

Winter League

We take a look behind the results in this week's Winter League matches to tease out the statistics that direct you to the biggest achievements of the week. An extra set of results in the number of matches played in this week with the Division 2 fixtures being completed on Monday after a Wednesday abandonment.

Up until this fourth week of the season (for some) we hadn't had a drawn game, now we have had three 4-4 draws this week. Those being in Division 3 on Monday - Thorpe Green 'C' v Lowerhouses 'B' and Lindley BC 'B' v Brockholes - and in Division 2 Jackson Bridge and Lindley Lib both extended their unbeaten records when drawing 4-4 on Wednesday.

There are 4 different match results that are possible under our current scoring system. They are 8-0, 6-2, 4-4 and the one that we haven't had yet - 5-3. That can only come about when two teams draw the aggregate after a 2-1 match score.

The biggest win of the week and of the season to date was in Division 3 where leaders Rastrick 'B' overwhelmed Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' by 63-6. That match included two 21-0 wins and a 21-6. Beat that! The biggest aggregate win in Division 1 to date has been the 63-22 win for Lower Hopton against Rastrick 'A' which occurred last week. The top Division 2 scoreline so far has been the 63-24 win for Meltham over Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A'.

On the individuals front we look at the top averages in Division 1 as the end of season leader in this competition will be awarded the Founder's Trophy. There is only one winner and that is the one with the most wins and top average when Singles and Pairs scores are merged together. At present you wouldn't bet against that award going to a Lower Hopton bowler.

We would like to offer similar recognition to the top bowler in the other two divisions as well and are now appealing for any generous sponsor to step forward to offer the £75 that will procure a good shield with engraving. The shield could be named after you if you wish as a permanent momento of your contribution to the start up of the Winter League. Feeling generous? Then a slightly bigger donation can provide a different trophy, maybe even a cup, to suit any size of sponsorship. Get in touch to learn more about this.

Currently the top of the Division 2 and Division 3 averages with the combined Singles & Pairs scores look like this:
