Winter League A preview of the Division 3 & 4 fixtures scheduled for Monday 19 December

There is a big opportunity this week for the top two teams to break right away from the chasing pack as they face the bottom two teams in the Division 3 table. The top two have driven a wedge of 8 points between themselves and the pack of four teams tightly packed with 2 points between them. Paddock I&C 'A' and Thorpe Green 'B' are two of that pack and they are level on 42 points with a head-on clash this Monday.

Brockholes has had a rocky time recently but a good win last week against their biggest rival for the title may well renew their confidence and form. A match against second-from-bottom Almondbury BC 'A' should result in a straightforward win (I always get into trouble for saying such things) whilst the Recreation Club should also welcome a match against the Springwood team at the foot of the table.
The other two teams in that mid-table quartet are Dalton and Rastrick 'B' and they meet where one-point is the gap at present and should remain tight as Rastrick have only lost 2 of their last 8 matches whilst Dalton have won 3 of their last 4 including wins over the top 2 teams.
Three points separate the top three teams in Division 4 and they all avoid each other in this week's fixture programme which it is hoped will be able to go ahead after last Monday's frozen green caused a first halt in the season. The forecast is much brighter with temperatures rising up to 15C for start time on Monday.
The Leaders Lindley Lib 'B' play Paddock I&C 'B' with second-placed Kirkheaton C&BC having the more difficult looking task when meeting Marsh Lib. Milnsbridge 'B's run of 5 wins on the bounce came a cropper last week when Lindley Lib 'B' beat them to reclaim top spot but a match against bottom team Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' will be more to their liking this week.
Lowerhouses 'B' have won 3 of their last 4 fixtures and will expect to continue their good form when taking on Netherton Con 'A' although they are unbeaten in three matches. The Netherton team really needs to continue to pick up points if they are to mount a serious effort to avoid relegation as things remain very tight at the bottom although it may already be too late for the Recreation Club 'B' team to turn things around.
