Slaithwaite deposed of Div. 3 topspot

Winter League

A review of the Division 3 results from Wednesday 14 January

REARRANGED FIXTURES

Division 3 (Springwood) Matches postponed on Wednesday 7 January will now be played on Wednesday 4 February. This also means that the Division 3 Winter Cup Qualifying Round goes back 7 days and is now scheduled for Wednesday 11 February All the fixture changes are now on our Bowlsnet pages

Slaithwaite were passed by Almondbury BC B in the Division 3 title race who hit Thorpe Green C for 8-0 and a fourth successive win. It increasingly looks like these two teams will take the promotion places but which one of them will take the title? Slaithwaite have won their respective Division titles for the past two seasons and that means a title each year they have been in the League. But after struggling to draw 4-4 with relegation-threatened Springwood A they find themselves two points behind the Almondbury team with only three fixtures still to be played.

Lockwood Con A had a massive win over third-placed Denby Dale which lifted them off the bottom of the table but they remain within the relegation places. That defeat for the Denby Dale side seriously damaged any hope they had of winning a promotion place as they find themselves 10 points out of that area, ironically 10 points being the start of season penalty they incurred for declining promotion last season. The two Lindley teams shared the points in a 4-4 draw which did little for either team's major targets but kept the honours even.
