Preparing for frost and snow

Winter League

The Winter League sometimes gets hit by Winter weather. Well there's a surprise! We need to be prepared to respond to any late change in conditions which may stop matches being played on any particular matchday.

The host clubs have full responsibility for postponing matches if in their view the green is likely to be damaged by using it or if it is deemed to be dangerous for bowlers to walk on the green or its surroundings. It is part of a host clubs' role to contact team captains on matchdays if they are postponing that day's fixtures. They will ring each of the team's contacts by 10.00am so that the captains can contact their team members to save any unnecessary travelling.

At the same time we post updates on the HuddWeb website so that any spectators can see if matches are on or off and so save themselves a wasted journey as well.

Taking all that into account it is important that the League has an up-to-date list of contact numbers for each team in their Division in the preferred order. The usual nominated contact may be away at certain times and the prime contact has changed. Each team can update their contact order and details at any time. The team member with the login facility should login to the Bowlsnet system. Then click on Info in the top right corner of the top border menu.

Clicking on Info and then Team Contacts and then scroll down to find your team. You can then use the Add Contact button to add a new name to the end of the list.

Alternatively click on any name to delete or amend the contact details. Host clubs will always try contacting the club contacts in the order they are placed on this listing.

It is in each team's interests to make sure that this listing is correct and up to date otherwise your team members will not be impressed if they are the only team to turn up to play matches that have already been postponed.

At the same time the host club may inform each team the date that they have rearranged the matches for. This may not be the usual day of the week that you are used to bowling on but teams are encouraged to field teams for these dates to avoid having a backlog of fixtures for when the season should really have finished.
