Over-80's KO down to 8 bowlers

There were 15 entrants for the opening round of the Over-80's Knock-Out staged at Huddersfield RUBC on Friday. My pairs partner Gordon Walker got the bye and along with 7 other qualifiers is through to the Quarter-Finals to be held next Friday with the venue now confirmed as Marsh Liberal Club.

Gordon is one of two former winners of this title, the other being Frank Greenwood who has won it three times and the fact that he was only discharged from hospital the day before the match didn't seem to affect his game at all. It is noticeable that there are three scratch bowlers still in contention and all three are in the top half of the draw in the Quarter-Finals.
