Review of Tuesday's results in Divisions 1&2 of the Veterans 10-Man League

All of Tuesday's Division 1 fixtures went the way of the home teams with the top two teams recording the biggest wins of the day. Lowerhouses beat Kirkheaton Con A 8-1 and already looked nailed-on to extend their title-winning sequence to a third consecutive season. Their nearest challenger is a Rastrick team unrecognisable from the team that finished in the bottom of half the table last season. Their latest outing produced a 9-0 whitewash home win over the Lockwood Con A team. That result, coupled with a big 7-2 home win for Cowcliffe over Lindley Lib sent the Lockwood Con team to bottom place, seven points from safety.

Golcar Lib A lost 3-6 away at a revived Longwood team who go fourth but it is the home form that is a worry for the Golcar team as they have already lost more home matches than they have won (2-3) which is unusual for them. Clayton West and Elland WMC shared the aggregate points 133-133 to see the home team emerge as the 5-4 winners and continue their climb (now 8th) up the table after a slow start to the season.

The only away winner in the top two divisions of the Veterans 10-Man League this week was Lindley BC A in Division 2. That win away to 2nd placed Netherton Con A was by the narrowest of margins, 5-4 after a 121-120 aggregate win secured the two bonus points for the top aggregate score. No change in the top running order of the top three teams but Meltham A took advantage of Netherton and Lindley BC taking points off each other to let the Meltham team open up a 5-points gap.

Thongsbridge were the big winners of the day after beating Denby Dale 7-2 to move up two places in the table to 4th position. The bottom two teams swap places as Broad Oak A use home advantage to beat Hemplow A by 7-2, but both remain in the relegation places. There was a good 7-2 home win for Milnsbridge A over Waterloo to keep them ahead of the relegation battle. Shepley moved up one place to 8th and swapped places with Almondbury Lib after thrashing them 8-1. Things weren't any better for the other Almondbury team in this division (Almondbury BC A) as they also went down 1-8 this time at Meltham A.
