The last day of the 6-Man League season reviewed

So many things could have changed but none did as teams played out the 2023 Veterans 6-Man League season with the anticipated promotions and relegations. There was an end of season feeling to the Division 1 fixtures with 3 of the 5 matches ending in 7-0 scorelines but none of those resulted in any unexpected changes in the pecking order at either end of the table.

Despite Shepley 'A's best efforts to salvage something from the defence of their title their 7-0 win over Crosland Moor only spurred Golcar C&BC on to clock up a 6-1 home win over Longwood to take the runners-up position. That result also condemned Longwood to the second relegation place and they go down with the new boys from Elland C&BC.

Denby Dale have only won four Division 2 matches all season but three of them have been by the 6-1 scoreline with the latest being over Holmfirth 'A' which did lift them off the bottom spot but they will still go down with Skel Windmill 'B' who lost 1-6 away at Paddock I&C. That result was a relief for Linthwaite Hall who lost 1-6 at home to Clayton West and could have resulted in relegation if Skel Windmill 'B' had found a better result than their 1-6 reversal at Paddock. Slaithwaite extended their lead at the top of the table to 18 points after a 5-2 away win at Golcar Lib.

The top two teams in Division 3 were involved in 7-0 scorelines with Marsh Lib confirming their promotion when seeing off Shepley 'B'. That coupled with Champions New Mill going down 0-7 away at Meltham reduced the gap to a final day one point but the difference was already too late to be of concern.
